The Pre-Fall 2019 lookbook, art directed by Christopher Simmonds, was shot at the ancient Roman cities of Herculaneum and Pompeii. For anyone who’s ever thought, “These ancient ruins are cool…but I’d rather have a snack” this one’s for you! There’s a hot model drinking orange soda, a hot model holding a blue cake with a bowtie, and another hot model eating one-half of a lunchbox sandwich.
From the Gucci press release: “Recounting the collection in these unique and inimitable places through the contemporary and unexpected gaze of the American artist, Gucci intends to preserve and promote these two ancient Roman cities, bringing their fascination and historical memory to the attention of new generations and an increasingly interactive audience.”
There’s a lot of crazy print-mixing, leather miniskirts, ’80s power suits, and, what might be my favorite piece, a deep-purple velvet bolero jacket. There’s also a shout-out to British cult-pop style bible The Face, with a black shirt sporting the magazine’s bold, red logo. Make yourself a snack, and take a look at some of our favorite images below.
