For those in need of a catch-up, there has been much speculation that someone else is controlling Spears’ online output to divert claims she’s being held in psychiatric facility against her will. Her response was to explicitly inform followers that she does, in fact, post her own content—followed by a range of quick changes in classic Britney Spears-Instagram fashion all set to “Man Down” by Rihanna (something to also unpack), but what does each outfit mean?

1. Pink, body-con mini: “I’m having fun, don’t worry!” 

Nothing says fun and flirty like bodycon, and we all associate a great baby pink with living, laughing and loving. The pop star is communicating she’s truly having a great time, and is ready to take on the town—regardless of reports. Miss American dream, indeed.

2. White off-the-shoulder mini dress: “I’m not that innocent (but I am)” 

Spears is really trying to send a message with this little number. Regardless of the conservatorship debacle, a sexy white summer dress informs us she’s a grown woman capable of making her own decisions and is not to be underestimated. Nonetheless, she’s still keeping it light and bright.

2. Blue cut-out skater dress: “Freedom is my middle name”

We all love the ease and breeze of a flared skirt moment, and the distinctly Americana periwinkle blue shows the “Radar” singer is taking life less seriously. But don’t be fooled, offset with a structured, keyhole bodice, this dress makes it clear Britney Spears is in control—and won’t be taken for ride.
