12 Ways To Wear Green On St. Patrick’s Day

Although there is a pandemic going on, it’s St.Patrick’s Day, which means we should figure out how to take shots at some point during the day. Just because most of us are quarantined, doesn’t mean we can’t find humor and ways to maintain our style.

The origin of wearing green for St. Patrick’s Day began in the 18th century, when the shamrock became the national symbol of Ireland. Previously, it has been blue. Can you believe that?

Because of the shamrock’s popularity and Ireland’s landscape, the color stuck to the holiday. Supposedly, green is also the color that leprechauns like to dress in. But tales about leprechauns date back to before green was in: the fairies were first described as wearing red. Sounds similar to a Christmas wardrobe if you ask me.

The tradition is tied to old tales that say that wearing green makes you ‘invisible’ to leprechauns. Apparently, they like to pinch people who don’t wear green. Since most people don’t know that, they wear green because it’s the color of good luck… and money. Others wear it to keep their Irish roots alive. I think I’m 1/8th Irish and I’ve always been a big fan of those ‘kiss me, I’m Irish’ t-shirts.

Anyways—if you’re having your own little party or having a St. Patrick’s Day party via video chat, we’ve rounded up some cute looks for today—or any day you’d like to feel a little lucky.
