Four Track styles will debut at Selfridges’ Corner Shop as part of the September Balenciaga takeover. However, in order to purchase the $635 shoes, you have to make an appointment first. From August 23 to September 3, people can register on Balenciagatrack.com to book a time slot and pre-select the style they want.
“This service model has been in place for brand launches for a few years, and it has helped eliminate queues and customer dissatisfaction,” Sebastian Manes, Selfridges buying and merchandising director, told Vogue. The Selfridges takeover will also feature artwork by artist Mark Jenkins, and the installation will run from September 3-23.
In February, Selfridges opened a sneaker gallery with over 700 styles to appeal to the female sneakerhead. The success of Balenciaga’s Triple S kicks seemed to be one of the main reasons for this new project. Manes continued to tell Vogue, “the popularity of the Balenciaga trainer was cemented after we opened our dedicated Sneaker Gallery earlier this year.”
Balenciaga’s Track sneaker incorporates neon green, which appeals to the ‘80s flavored fashion we’ve seen lately, while also channeling the outdoorsy/computer hacker vibe of current trends. Log on to register before September 3 for your own (very exclusive) hiking shoes.
