The randomness of the pivot recalls a similar narrative—that of Legally Blonde‘s Elle Woods, another beautiful upper class California girl who decides to go to Harvard Law School on a whim, unwittingly becoming the campus’s resident star.
For Kim Kardashian, who similarly privileges body-contouring, mid-drift baring outfits, the Elle Woods comparisons have come thick and fast. The star told Vogue that instead of formally enrolling in law school, she is interning for four years at a local firm (a valid substitution, according to California law) before sitting the bar. And although she’s allegedly already one year into her studies, that doesn’t mean she can’t source inspiration from Woods’ sartorial decisions. 1. Pageboy chic
Elle Woods’ orientation outfit hits many, many marks. The return of the pageboy cap has been charting recently, thin belts have been making a comeback ever since people started wearing shoelaces around their waist, and lord knows a good peasant top never goes out of style.
