Beyoncé Might Be Trying to Film Something at Rome’s Colosseum

After filming her video for “Apeshit” with Jay-Z at the Louvre, it looks like Beyoncé might be taking on another capital of cultural history. Italian newspaper Il Messaggero reports that Beyoncé submitted a request to film at the Colosseum, though there are no details about what the request might be for.

She initially requested to film at the Roman landmark on July 7-8 while she was there with Jay-Z for their On the Run II tour. That request was reportedly rejected by Italy’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage because Italian scientist Alberto Angela already booked the amphitheater. Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s request to film at the Louvre was accommodated relatively last-minute, a spokesperson for the Louvre told Vulture. “The deadlines were very tight but the Louvre was quickly convinced because the synopsis showed a real attachment to the museum and its beloved artworks.”

But at the Colosseum, the request was too short notice. But! The singer’s team perseveres. Beyoncé has reportedly resubmitted another request that’s currently under review. It isn’t the first time Bey has filmed at the Colosseum, though. She, along with Britney Spears and Pink, filmed an iconic Pepsi commercial with the singers dressed as gladiators along with an Emperor Enrique Iglesias.
