Given the nature of the event, the British Fashion Awards never fail to attract a well-dressed crowd—and this year’s celebration was no different. Attendees pulled out all the stops at this year’s event, hosted by model Alek Wek at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Monday evening. While red carpets are always a Petri dish of interesting outfits, we’re typically fixated on the celebrities and names of note, rather than the people who designed them. But this time around, we couldn’t help but ogle at what those creatives, like Gucci’s Alessandro Michele (who wore a crown, by the way), put on for the night. Award or no award, these were the looks that stole the show:

Emerging British designer Charles Jeffrey designs for his own label, Loverboy, and fashion critic Tim Blanks once compared his work to Alexander McQueen’s. No big deal.

Two style legends turned it out at the BFA’s in head-to-toe black. Prada took home the “Outstanding Achievement” award, while Piccioli won “Designer of the Year.”

Virgil Abloh, winner of the “Urban Luxe” award, kept things casual in black sneakers, jeans, and a hoodie.

Dame Westwood fittingly took home the Swarovski Award for “Positive Change.”

Alessandro Michele accepted the “Brand of the Year” award and, naturally, wore a crown for the occasion.

We’re used to see Goddard’s whimsical dresses on people like Rihanna, but the designer struck gold with this metallic look.
