Our Version of Suiting Up: the Canadian Tuxedo

Ever since that fateful day in 2001 when Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears rocked the denim-on-denim, the Canadian Tuxedo look has been deemed “cool.” The look is really just anything with some type of denim repetition, jeans with a denim jacket or a denim top is fine. But really, the best Canadian Tuxedos are those looks with as much denim as possible—we’re talking jeans, denim shirts, denim jackets, even a denim shoe if possible.

Guys, don’t be afraid of denim. The fan-favorite material is trending, and the trend has reached its peak. Any way you can incorporate jeans into your look, do it. The more denim you have, the more trendy you look.

Which brings us back to the good old Canadian Tuxedo. There isn’t really a wrong way to style your denim-on-denim look, but there definitely are more stylish ways.

A few tips to keep in mind: as denim goes with literally everything, go adventurous with your accessories. Go for a patterned shoe, a brightly colored bag, big sunglasses, a belt bag, really anything that floats your fancy. Strategize well with your denim coloring—either go for an entirely monochrome look using denim of all the same wash, or mix up to two jean colors. Any more than two could look a bit messy.

With your Canadian Tuxedo know-how in mind, shop and style adventurously.
