Cardi B’s Former Manager Is Suing Her For $10 Million

Cardi B’s being sued by a former manager who claims he was the one who propelled her to stardom. Shaft (real name Klenord Raphael) is suing her for $10 million after claiming he taught her the ropes of the music business and was responsible for “Bodak Yellow.”

The official legal statement says:

Since discovering Cardi B in 2015, Shaft has played an integral role in developing her music career and public image. While he is proud of their successful collaborations as she evolved from Instagram influencer to music megastar, Shaft is disappointed by her actions to freeze him out of her career, which are detailed in the complaint. Shaft is confident that his lawsuit will validate his conduct and substantiate his legal claims.

The former manager also claims he helped Cardi B land a spot on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: New York where she was a cast member for two seasons. In March, Variety reported that Cardi B moved over to Solid Foundation from Shaft and KSR Group, joining rappers Migos and Lil Yachty on the Atlanta-based record label. The rapper is also engaged to Migos member Offset.

Some colorful texts were included in the complaint filed:

“On December 16, 2017, [Cardi] texted Shaft: ‘I’m not f[*]cking with you nomore you dead ass doing me [] Grimmey.’ Cardi apparently started withdrawing from Shaft, and two days later, Offset sent her former manager a message saying, ‘[U] better stop play acting like u don’t know u taking her sh[*]t from her u a snake. U can’t hide from me N[****] and u not bout to play my WIFE.’”

It’s been a crazy month for the Bronx rapper, who released her debut album “Invasion of Privacy” on April 6 and announced her pregnancy on Saturday Night Live on April 7. At the Billboard Latin Music Awards, Cardi B showed off her baby bump, and she and Offset were being super-cute and lovey-dovey. We doubt a lawsuit will bring the current queen of rap down for long.
