It’s been a busy week for Chanel. The brand recently announced that it would no longer use exotic textiles in designs, and on Tuesday night, Chanel took over the Met in New York City for its annual Métiers d’Art Show. Chanel’s Métiers d’Art show, which translates in English to “artistic careers,” focuses on the craftsmanship behind the house. Ahead, your need-to-know details about the show:
It was inside of the Temple of Dendur exhibit
Karl Lagerfeld trekked uptown for Chanel’s latest show, and chose the Temple of Dendur exhibit as the venue.
The collection was Egyptian-themed
From the clothing to the makeup, everything was right on-theme, with a tweedy, Chanel twist of course. There were graffiti prints by Cyril Kongo on some of the pieces, as well. As always, the famous Camellia flowers were pinned on lapels, and pearls were strung around most models’ necks.
Model casting was diverse
Almost half of the 85 models that walked in the show, like Adesuwa Aighewi and Hyun Ji Shin, were from diverse backgrounds.
Pharrell walked in the show
Everybody’s favorite Chanel ambassador stole the show when he walked out in head-to-toe gold.
Body paint was the most DIY trend

Makeup artist Lucia Pica has the Midas touch. Pica painted about 20 model’s legs gold for the show.
