Dakota Johnson is the First to Wear Hedi Slimane’s Celine

In August, Lady Gaga gave the world a first glimpse of Hedi Slimane’s handbag designs for Celine. Then in September, Korean singer CL showed off another of his handbags. Now, Dakota Johnson is the first person to don ready-to-wear from Slimane’s first Celine collection (look 40, to be exact) on the red carpet. Johnson wore a short, plunging red sequin dress with three-quarter length puff sleeves to the Los Angeles premiere of Suspiria. She accessorized with Sophie Buhai earrings and Giuseppe Zanotti sandals.

Dakota Johnson Wore Hedi Slimane's Celine First

Slimane’s inauguration at Celine has been met with a call to arms, but apparently Johnson doesn’t have any ill feelings towards the designer. She supported Slimane when he was creative director at Saint Laurent and as Vogue reports, they’ve been working together for years: Johnson wore one of Slimane’s Saint Laurent dresses to the London premiere of Fifty Shades of Grey in 2015.

While Old Céline fans might cringe at the thought of wearing Hedi Slimane’s version of the brand, there is, apparently, a market for what he’s serving up.
