Gucci-fy Your Life

Gucci announces launch of home décor

For everyone who dreams of a closet full of Gucci – hold your breath – because now the brand wants to pimp your life. Today, fashion’s favorite label announced it will be launching a line of décor come September, giving you the rest of summer to save up.

Alessandro Michele’s over-the-top aesthetic has become as recognizable as the brand’s historic insignia, and this fall he’s bringing that signature flora and fauna to every inch of your home. As per the brand’s Instagram release, Gucci Décor will feature “a lineup of furniture and decorative pieces designed by Alessandro Michele featuring the House’s design motifs, patterns and codes.” Judging by the vibrant illustrations by Alex Merry Art, it’ll be like a logomania version of your granny’s house.

Michele will be tapping into the brand’s Italian roots, preserving artisanal tradition through Gucci Décor’s handcrafted furnishings. Channeling his maximalist renaissance in object form, the collection puts his signature embellishments on candles, pillows, furniture, and ceramics – made from a Florentine manufacturer founded in 1735. The line will even feature a range of wallpapers in fabrics like silk, vinyl and papers.

The jury is still out as per the price range of what will inevitably be the holy grail of home décor, but here’s hoping it’ll be more realistic than the house’s lavish runway designs. Brands typically enter the lifestyle market to expand their audience, rendering its aspirational status accessible, but Gucci is notoriously more is more. Alessandro in Wonderland: Home Edition is coming to select stores near you, so get on board and Gucci-fy your life. This collection’s gonna sell like haute cakes.
