8 Hair Clips To Take You Back To Your Pre-Teen Self

They say everything in fashion is cyclical, so I should have known it was only a matter of time before the hair clips I loved as a pre-teen became one of my favorite grown-up accessories. As someone who insisted on wearing a different hair style every single day in grade school—and someone who was heavily inspired by Lizzie McGuire’s collection of scrunchies, clips, et al—it’s safe to say I’m embracing 2018’s hair clip resurgence with open arms.

Whether you prefer subtly-sparkly slides or extra-large plastic claw-clips, all of the colorful, candy-like hair accessories from your pre-adolescence are back. But you don’t need to shop Chanel or Gucci to lean into the trend (though they both offer some pretty great options). From the hair aisle at your local Duane Reade to a collection of indie brands (Valet Studio and Kanel Denmark are just two of our favorites), you’ll find an assortment of printed barrette and bejeweled bobby pins that you just won’t be able resist.

Below, find some of the can’t-resist hair-candy that’ll have you adding a little something extra to your look before leaving the house—instead of that age-old trick of taking one thing off. If only we had kept our collection of butterfly clips…
