The northeast somehow made it through the great Bomb Cyclone of 2018, however, we have a sneaking suspicion there are still several flurries ahead of us, and with snowfall comes the unavoidable task of dressing for it. If you’re like us in New York City where walking (read: desperately trying not to slip) is part of the commute then you’ll likely be sliding into a pair of all-weather boots soon enough. This type of footwear is, shall we say, less than aesthetically pleasing but nonetheless necessary so we searched for non-frumpy ways to wear your winter boots. Scroll down to shop the looks and godspeed!
#1: Skirt the Snow
If you’re feeling fatigue from wearing the same pairs of pants each week why not test a new layering combination, sans slacks? We love the way leggings look underneath a skirt; wear the two with a cozy knit and booties.
#2: A Bold Burst
As obvious as it sounds, when the weather is gloomy, adding a pop of color (like this rainbow-bright Gucci knit) is a quick way to turn a drab day into a style opportunity. Pair it with a slim leg and tuck into your snow boots for a flattering silhouette.
#3: Off to the Office
Your first instinct when it snows may be to throw on the long underwear and parka but if you’re heading to the office this proves less realistic. Instead, wear high boots that reach the hemline of a midi dress and finish off the look with a tissue turtleneck worn underneath and structural trench on top.
#4: Cream of the Crop
If you’re not tucking your pants into snow boots then we recommend opting for a cropped pair, like these plaid trousers. Complete the ensemble with a cream-colored turtleneck and a textural PVC jacket.
#5: Be a Good Sport
Running weekend errands or grabbing a coffee with friends? Go the athleisure route and stay covetably comfortable all day long.
