Meghan Markle Can’t Wear Tuxedos—But Here’s Why You Should

Being a royal definitely has its ups and major downsides. According to The Daily Mail, as The Duchess of Sussex started prepping for a tour of Australia and New Zealand with Prince Harry, she was told that she couldn’t wear any tuxedos or suits. The reason? Simply because Queen Elizabeth II prefers women in dresses and skirts.

While the royals haven’t confirmed this rumor, it does seem to have a lot of truth to it. Meghan has worn suits out with Harry before, but it’s only been at more informal events without the Queen. Reports are saying that Meghan is being told she has to “dress like a royal and less like a Hollywood star” but who’s to say women dressed in suits isn’t royal?

Hopefully the royal family eases up a bit on the fashion rules, because it’s extremely outdated to think that women can only look professional and appropriate in dresses and skirts. Suits are incredibly modern in fashion, and with all the colors and fabrics they come in, it’s so much more than a workwear staple; it’s something you can make your own.
