Millie Bobby Brown Quits Twitter After Becoming Homophobic Meme

In today’s “the internet can be a terrible place” news, Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown has deleted her Twitter account after Twitter users posted memes that depicted her as a violent homophobe.

The memes show various photos of Millie with homophobic comments and anti-gay slurs presented in captions made to look like the actress herself made these statements. (Of course, she did not.) Millie has a strong track record of supporting LGBTQ+ rights, creating a Twitter handle @Milliestopshate to fight bullying and wearing a GLAAD pin to the MTV Awards last year.

On top of that, she’s also an advocate for the Parkland shooting survivors, wearing a jacket to the Kids’ Choice Awards featuring the names of the 17 victims of the Parkland shooting. Until she deactivated her account, the 14-year-old actress was active on Twitter, posting frequent political statements and updates about her daily life and relationship with YouTuber and musician Jacob Sartorius.

Her secondary Twitter account @Milliestopshate is still live. This news comes a week after Star Wars fans/trolls bullied The Last Jedi’s Kelly Marie Tran off Instagram.
