To some, Simon Porte Jacquemus made a mockery of the micro handbag trend when models walked onto the runway carrying teeny-tiny, two-inch “bags” he called the Mini Le Chiquito. To others, however, Jacquemus opened the door to simplicity.
Carrying a micro bag forces us to edit down and pack the essentials–whether that means toting around a single Airpod or Tic-Tac is up to you. All jokes aside, removing the “junk” from our purses is a quick-and-easy way to feel lighter, both mentally and physically. So, ditch the gum wrappers, expired metro cards, and random in-case-of-emergency buttons that are lying in the bottom of your bag and opt for a smaller, sleeker version.
Fendi Leather Baguette
The baguette bag (designed by Fendi in 1997) became popular thanks to its frequent role of accessory-of-choice in “Sex and the City.” Carrie Bradshaw single-handedly gave the baguette its claim to fame as the very first “It bag.” Since the handbag’s on-screen debut, the baguette has seen more than 1,000 variations.
Evening Clutch
Clutches (also known as miniaudières) were an iconic evening accessory of the ’20s and ’30s. Hollywood starlets (and other affluent women of wealth) would often carry the tiny handleless handhelds down the red carpet or to high-end cocktail parties. Thankfully, the clutch bag is less of a status symbol and more of a statement piece today.
Mini Bucket Bag
Although the original bucket bag appeared in the ’30s (thanks to Louis Vuitton), Mansur Gavriel launched an all-new bucket bag obsession with its sleek and minimalist drawstring bag in 2013. The bag was so popular, even The Business of Fashion dubbed the company’s creation the “first post-recession It Bag.”
