From New York to LA, The Kaplan Twins Know How to Live

Vibrancy and edginess is not only found on the East Coast. Former-New Yorkers Allie and Lexi Kaplan are living their LA lives to the fullest, and teaching COOLS how it’s done.

There’s been an exodus happening in the US in recent years: masses of artists have been flocking from New York to Los Angeles. After leaving the hustle and bustle of NYC, Allie and Lexi Kaplan decided to take a more relaxed approach to their work and followed in the footsteps of so many young artists and taking the time to focus on art, fashion, food, and all-year sun. What’s to account for this westward expansion; why have over 70,000 workers migrated from the east coast? As Fran Lebowitz put so plainly, “L.A. is better than it used to be, New York is worse than it used to be.” And clearly other artists agree with her. LA has witnessed an artistic renaissance, with over 50 galleries having opened in the last five years.

So, in our quest to understand why artists opt for the California coast, COOLS followed the Kaplan twins around LA, getting a glimpse into the Pacific way of life. Join the Kaplan twins as they venture from donut shops to Mel’s Drive-In and soak in a little bit of bliss that young creatives search for in LA.
