Prada Created a Surreal, Marilyn Monroe-filled Ad Campaign in Las Vegas

Prada dreamed up a surreal, neon-filled Las Vegas paradise in Neon Dream, a short film starring actress Sarah Paulson playing a montage of Vegas archetypes alongside Violet Chachki and long-time Prada muse Amanda Murphy.

The short film pairs perfectly with Prada’s FW18 neon-heavy collection, framing the desert landscape with the illuminated Vegas sky. The RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 star leads a Marilyn Monroe army through the streets of Las Vegas, with Chachki recreating Marilyn Monroe’s iconic look from The Seven Year Itch. The video feels David Lynch-inspired, with Paulson playing multiple roles, from a bellhop to a threatening-looking cocktail waitress on roller skates. Meanwhile, Chachki debuts in full Vegas showgirl regalia.

“This Las Vegas is nevertheless a fiction, composed of archetypes – red velvet drapes, glittering lights, glowing Technicolor, billboards and convertibles,” reads the press release. “Reality, reimagined. A neon dream.”

The four-minute clip was directed by Willy Vanderperre with Amanda Murphy as the mysterious heroine. The director beautifully captures the neon resplendency of the desert city that exists in spite of itself. The fluorescent pink, orange and red — neon versions of desert colors — are a sight to behold. Watch the film in full here.
