A rare exception to my anti-street style ethos and the embodiment of laidback style is French-born, London-based Camille Charrière, a regular fan favorite in the street style set. (She is also very clever, a talented writer and co-hosts a podcast called FashionNoFilter, but that’s beside the point.) During London Fashion Week in September, Charrière was snapped in a thigh-grazing babydoll dress (adorned with tiny brown horses) and knee-high rain boots. It’s only halfway practical, but still, I love it. And since then, it’s all I can think about.
Maybe it’s the unexpected mix of an ultra-feminine dress and utilitarian footwear. Or maybe it’s the slouchy tiger print bag thrown in from left field. (Seriously, where did that come from?) Either way, it’s the epitome of how to inject style on days when the weather is unrelenting, something we don’t do enough.
Below are five outfits that look good and you can (kind-of) get wet in.

1. The outfit that started it all.
2. Try a patterned suit and platforms. They’re called flood pants for a reason.
3. Trade in your classic camel trench for a more exotic print.
4. An unexpected palette makes this practical poncho feel special.
5. Dealing with a downpour? Double-down on the rain essentials.
