Sounds COOL(S): Songs To Cure A Comedown

You’re over your Spotify mixes, your YouTube playlists are becoming repetitive, and wading through your muso friend’s ever-pretentious song suggestions is less appealing than listening to Nickelback’s “Photograph” on repeat for the rest of time. We get it. To relieve your decision fatigue, we’ve asked the hottest rising artists to compile their favorite tracks of the minute.

Here, Kevin George shares the songs to get you through your summertime sadness.

1. Miles Davis, “Song For Selim”

I fucking love this song. I feel like I’m flying.

2. Prince, “The Beautiful Ones”

Don’t make me waste my time / dont make me lose my mind — Prince is the goat. 10 out of 10.

3. Frank Ocean, “Self Control”

I think we’ll be hearing this song for years and years to come. Modern classic. One I wish I created.

4. Nao, “Bad Blood”

God-level sonics! This is one of my favorite pieces of art ever created.

5. The Weeknd, “Secrets”

Abel and Doc flipped tears for fears and brought back the ’80s. Big inspiration.

6. Bob Marley, “Redemption Song”

I miss songs about freedom and love. Songs that give you hope.

7. Childish Gambino, “Me and Your Mama”

I’m on the beach and I’m with a girl. We’re on a towel, sharing stories. This is on in the background.

8. Tame Impala, “The Less I Know The Better”

Night-time, dreaming. This song for some reason gives me hope.

9. Kevin George, “High Like This”

A song about being misunderstood. She doesn’t really get you, because if she did…she wouldn’t be with you.

10. Stevie Wonder, “Too High”

Melodies that yell pure joy! I’m too high!! Tooo high!!
