Yellow is a shade that flatters most people. It’s bright, it’s happy, and it’s the perfect pop of color to lighten up on those drab and rainy spring days, or whenever you need a little mood boost.
“Hold up, they don’t love you like I love you,” Beyoncé crooned in her song “Hold Up,” wearing a very memorable (and very yellow) Roberto Cavalli dress that’s become an instantly-recognizable reference for the springtime shade.
Like Bey, if you’re not afraid to make a statement, then go for the gold and try on a silky dress to carry you from day to night—simply swap out your flats or sneakers for a pair of strappy sandals, and your daytime tote to a more elegant, evening clutch or crossbody bag.
Luckily, there are so many different hues of yellow to choose from, making it easy to add small jolts of sunshine to your springtime wardrobe without compromising your personal style. Don’t make the mistake of going overboard and wearing the color head-to-toe though, unless you really do want to look like Big Bird.
