This is a no-brainer. If you don’t want exposed limbs, cover up in silhouettes that still feel sexy—like your favorite pair of mid-rise denim and a long sleeve silk blouse. I’m dressing mine up with heeled cowboy boots and sparkly earrings.
Turtleneck dress and knee-high boots

Sweater dresses don’t have to be dowdy. Opt for a mid-thigh ribbed style and pair with sheer tights and boots that hit just below the knee. This silhouette is most flattering with boots that hug your calves. A small shoulder bag and a heavy wool coat are very Jane Birkin.

This outfit makes me feel like ’90s Gwyneth Paltrow rolling up to the Viper Room, long, lithe and sophisticated. A bootcut pant is ultra flattering, as is off-the-shoulder knitwear exposing the collarbone. Lined suede will keep you warm, while not weighing down the look.

One of my all-time favorite tricks as a California girl—just add tights. Layer your favorite summer minidress (vintage preferred) over thick tights and a turtleneck. Add lace-up booties and a heavy coat to tie it all together.
