I can’t tell you how many times I’ve fallen in a love with a pair of shoes, only to realize while walking to subway that it’s going to be a painful day ending in blisters. In an effort to try and avoid killing my feet but wearing shoes I’m excited about, I’ve really been into espadrilles or wedge sandals lately. They’re by no means a new trend, but lately there are a lot more exciting styles than the usual nude espadrilles that look like shoes for your grandma.
Thankfully, the wedge sandals this season have a more modern touch–with fabrics like sleek leather and linen paired against the thick sole that gives you height and comfort. Wear them with a menswear inspired blazer and jeans for more casual days at work, and with floral, flowy dresses for the perfect day-to-night look.
