Madonna’s never been shy about stepping into someone else’s shoes. The “Like A Prayer” singer turned heads at the 2018 MTV VMA’s in a traditional Berber ensemble, deemed sacrilegious by many a fashionista, despite what NPR argues were her best intentions. While some of the “roles” she plays are more controversial by nature, others are more lighthearted (and sexy). Enter her turn as a sultry maid—which, as it turns out, is also an excellent costume idea for Halloween.
Madge’s outfit can only be described as the sexiest maid costume ever (see above). No curl on her head was out of place, and the ensemble was complete with sheer gloves and a white, silk apron. She was there for her new skincare line MDNA, and I haven’t been able to get this image out of my brain since, which perfectly (and completely coincidentally) happens to dovetail with some happy news from the maker of said apron: Fleur du Mal, whose range doesn’t stop at aprons.
Jennifer Zuccarini, the New York-based brand’s founder, has transformed her once-fledgling lingerie line into a bonafide ready-to-wear and swim brand. Her pieces marry a distinct mix of the sweet and the perverse. She’s also helped to legitimize pajama-dressing for daytime, which is a pretty easy trend to get behind, if I say so.
Now, Zuccarini is bringing her boudoir style to the West Coast. Specifically, Caruso’s Palisades Village, where she opened the doors to her first store in California last weekend. During her brand’s residency at the Palisades, shoppers can expect monthly deliveries of exclusive styles.
“We wanted to open a West Coast store that would complement the brand ethos and create a unique shopping experience for our strong LA customer base,” said Zuccarini. “Everything from the décor to the product offering and presentation is specially tailored to the LA customer and distinctly Fleur du Mal.”
If you’re in the area, the store is now open at 15225 Palisade Village Ln., Pacific Palisades, CA.
