SZA Teases New “Garden” Music Video for Mother’s Day

For Mother’s Day, SZA gave us what we have all been asking for: a music video for her song Garden (Say It Like Dat) off of her 2017 album CTRL. Whether or not you’re a mother, you will probably appreciate the video, which she dedicates to her own mother.

“Need u for the old me..Need u for my sanity..need u to remind me where I come from…Mommy u mean more than energy provides. My Ace .My apex . My co designer ..Happy Mother’s Day all,” SZA writes in her Instagram post.

The Karena Evans-directed video shows a brief clip of SZA perched on a cliff, with her hair flowing around her and mother Audrey. The clip quickly blacks out before we’re able to catch too many details, and the short list of credits appears on the screen, which happens to include Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover). Evans is also the director behind two of Drake’s biggest music videos as of late, “God’s Plan” and “Nice For What.”

The video for Garden drops in the middle of the singer’s TDE Championship tour, which has been filled with a number of milestones for the 27-year-old singer. Last week, SZA’s song “All The Stars” made for Black Panther, reached Platinum status.

The New Jersey-native has also quickly become a darling in the fashion world. Her Met Gala look are still gushed over on Twitter, and she’s inked deals with massive brands like Gap and Nike’s Air Jordan.

We are all waiting to see what projects the multi-talented star drops next.
