How To Get the Western Look Without Going Full-On Cowboy

Where have all the cowboys gone? Paula Cole’s famous song has never rang truer than it does right now. And that’s the tune we’re crooning, thanks to the fact that the western trend is riding back into fashion in full force.

From Raf Simons’ collections at Calvin Klein to the glossy runways of Saint Laurent, no brand can resist the allure of cowboy hats, fringed boots, boleros, and Wild Westworld-worthy button-up shirts.

I used to be extremely averse to cowboy boots. Or fringe. Or anything that made me look remotely like Woody from Toy Story. Now, I find myself gravitating towards fringe, denim on denim, and suede boots—my personal take on the western trend.

Luckily, you don’t have to interpret the trend so literally. Adding a touch of fringe to a handbag, or to your boots, is an easy way to nod at the trend without abandoning your sense of personal style.

If you need some feel-good inspiration, listen to Paula sing about cowboys.
