Ariana Grande Quits Social Media Post-Breakup

Ariana Grande announced in a now-deleted Instagram Story on Tuesday night that she’s saying “bye bye” to the internet after ending her engagement with Pete Davidson.

The couple ended their engagement on Sunday, and they appear to both be taking a breather from public life in the wake of their breakup. Grande has reportedly given back the engagement ring the SNL star purchased for her, and Davidson canceled a scheduled comedy show at Temple University.

The “No Tears Left to Cry” singer made her first post-breakup appearance on Tuesday at a taping of NBC’s A Very Wicked Halloween, a celebration of the 15th anniversary of Wicked.

“Ok today was v special and i’m so grateful i was able to be there,” she wrote in a now-deleted Instagram story. She followed up the message with her decision to leave social media for a while.

“It’s hard not to bump [into] news n stuff that I’m not trying to see rn,” she wrote. “It’s very sad and we’re all tryin very hard to keep going. love u. and thank u for bein here always.”

Grande and Davidson were previously engaged in June after weeks of dating. Before her hiatus, the singer posted photos of herself with Wicked cast member Idina Menzel and other cast members, with a noticeably empty ring ringer.

Underneath the photo of Grande with Menzel, she wrote, “if y’all told me ab any of this fifteen years ago………….bye.”
